Periodontal Disease

Did you know that periodontal disease is the most common disease in dogs and one of the most common in cats? It affects 8 out of 10 dogs, and 7 out of 10 cats over 3 years old. Symptoms include bad breath, loose or missing teeth, sensitive mouth and gums when touched, decreased appetite, and occasionally, lost weight.

Periodontal disease undergoes four stages. Each stage is indicated by the damage done to the teeth’s supporting structures. If left untreated, the disease can cause tooth loss and internal organ damage.
