Pet Boarding: Individualized Care That’s Beyond Compare
We understand how difficult it can be to leave your pet, whether it’s for a long weekend or an extended vacation. After all, he or she is a beloved family member that should be treated with extra special care.
That’s why, at Northwest Neighborhood Veterinary Hospital, we offer a unique boarding experience. We board a small number of guests at a time so that your pet will receive the individualized attention and affection that he or she deserves.
Our pet boarding coordinator, Mary Tustin, personally cares for our kennel guests—bathing them, brushing them, trimming their nails, and performing other services as needed. She will also keep you updated about how your pet is doing, so you won’t have to worry while you’re away.
Types of Guests
We welcome dogs, cats, and exotic pets to stay with us. We offer both regular and medical pet boarding services.
Your pet does not have to be an existing patient to stay with us. However, dogs must be current on their rabies, DHPP, and bordetella vaccines. They also need to have had a negative fecal test in the last 6 months and pass a boarding trial to ensure they are comfortable staying with us. Cats must be current on their rabies and FVRCCP vaccines, as well as any other vaccinations deemed appropriate by their veterinarian. They must also have had a negative fecal test within the last year. We kindly request that all pets be on flea preventive for everyone’s protection.
For visiting canines, we offer several different sized kennels as well as multiple full-size runs. Whether you have a Yorkie or a Great Dane, we will ensure your dog is comfortable. Because we are in downtown Portland, dogs are walked on a leash at least three times a day. This means canines are guaranteed to get exercise, as opposed to being relegated to a fenced-in area, like many dog boarding facilities do.
For our feline guests, we have multiple rooms available. Each cat is able to stay in the room that best suits his or her temperament, as well as any medical requirements.
Most cats enjoy our cat room with large windows that open into our lobby. There, they will stay in a double suite with a separate litter box room, space permitting. When cats want to stretch their legs, we let them out one at a time, to independently saunter around the room.
While you’re away, it’s a perfect time to catch your pet up on any necessary veterinary care. From pet vaccinations and pet dental cleanings, to nail trims and pet baths. This way, your pet will return home healthy and clean.
If you have any questions about our pet boarding facilities, or would like to make a reservation, please contact us. We look forward to providing you and your pet with a happy, stress-free vacation!
